Q: Can someone please port application/game X, Y or Z?

A: Probably not. There are a lot less developers than there are possible applications, until such a time when the situation is turned around please do not ask for developers to port pieces of software. If you really want it then have a go at doing it yourself, but do not expect any help in doing so.

Q: When will emulator X/program Y/game Z be released?

A: When it is ready and the developers wants to. Asking for progress reports does not help at all and most developers will just get annoyed with you asking.

Q: When will emulator for platform X, Y or Z run at full speed, with sound and all the blinking lights?

A: It will work when it will work. Porting emulators is not easy, and neither is getting them to run full speed. Saying that the PSP has a lot of untapped power at the moment (all the funky hardware in there is pretty much undocumented) and once it is figured out a lot of platforms can be emulated.

Q: When is Linux going to be ready?

A: Short answer: not all that soon. Long answer: There are a number of stumbling blocks to getting Linux going on the PSP, one of which is finding oout how to unload the current kernel, the next of which is figuring out how to use things like the MMU, and the last if which is actually doing it. So far there has been no progress on any of of these fronts and the PSP Linux project does not seem to be going anywhere.

Here is a project that uses uClinux which is a linux branch that will run on platforms that do not have Memory Management Units (MMU). I don’t know if this has been replicated. http://df38.dot5hosting.com/~remember/chris/
